Common questions

Everything you need to know before you buy

Quick answers to the questions we hear most.

  • A preorder secures your unit in the next confirmed production batch. Full payment is taken at checkout, and your camera is dispatched within 2โ€“5 business days of the batch arriving at our NZ warehouse. We'll email you with tracking as soon as it ships. See our How Preorders Work page for full details.
  • Redlite Core ($189) โ€” ideal for families and everyday drivers who want solid front, cabin, and rear coverage. Redlite Pro ($259) โ€” the most popular choice, with a wider 170ยฐ cabin camera that's perfect for rideshare and Uber drivers. Redlite Ultra LTE ($399) โ€” built-in LTE for live cloud uploads and ADAS safety alerts, designed for fleet operators and professional drivers. Use our full comparison page to decide.
  • All Redlite cameras are designed for universal fitment and connect via your car's 12V/cigarette lighter socket โ€” no permanent wiring required. Setup takes around 15โ€“20 minutes. A full installation guide is included in the box, and we recommend routing cables along the headliner for a clean look.
  • Yes โ€” all models support parking mode, which activates motion or impact detection while the engine is off. A continuous power supply cable (hardwire kit) is required for extended parking monitoring. The camera will detect a bump or movement and save a protected clip automatically.
  • Footage is stored on a microSD card (up to 256GB) and loops automatically when full. You can view clips by removing the card and inserting it into a computer, or connect via Wi-Fi using the companion app on your phone. The Ultra LTE also supports real-time cloud uploads over its built-in LTE connection.
  • Every Redlite camera includes a 12-month warranty covering manufacturing defects and hardware failures under normal use. It does not cover physical damage, water ingress from improper installation, or microSD card failures. To make a claim, email redlite@redlite.co with your order number and a description of the issue.
  • Every Redlite package includes the main dash camera unit, all relevant camera modules (cabin and rear where applicable), mounting hardware, a 12V power cable, cable clips for clean routing, and a quick-start installation guide. A microSD card is not included โ€” we recommend a Class 10 card up to 256GB.
  • Yes โ€” we ship to all addresses across New Zealand. Orders are dispatched within 2โ€“5 business days of the batch arriving at our NZ warehouse. You'll receive a tracking number by email as soon as your order ships.
  • Short answer: they're the same thing. TF card (TransFlash) is simply the original name for what the industry now calls microSD โ€” identical physical card, identical slot. You'll see "TF card" on some product listings, particularly from Chinese manufacturers, but your Redlite camera uses a standard microSD card available at any electronics or supermarket store in NZ.

What to buy: We recommend a Class 10 / U3 rated microSD card between 32GB and 256GB. U3 rating ensures the card can handle continuous high-definition loop recording without dropping frames. Brands like SanDisk, Samsung, and Kingston all work well. A card is not included in the box.
